This is affirmed to be the last will and testament of Ann Cain who being weak in body but of a sound mind and perfect memory at the making hereof First she bequeathed her soul to God and her body to Christian burial Item she left sixpence apiece legacy to her three sons namely Thomas, John & William Lastly she nominated and appointed her daughter Elinor Cain sole executor of the rest of her goods moveable and immoveable whatsoever

At a ……. Court holden at Castletown 23rd October 1771 the executor is sworn in Court in form of law and hath given pledges for payment of debts and legacies viz John Bridson, .. Gell and Thomal Halsall one of the witnesses

June 13 1772 John Harrison enters a claim against the executor of Ann Cain for 8/2

  2. She was the daughter of John McYlrea & Elizabeth Shimmin born 1. Buried 13th October 1771 aged 77 years
  3. Siblings Elizabeth (Isabel) married Tom Norris, Charles married Margaret Kewley, Thomas married Jony Kinley, Cath was unmarried, and Isabel married Thomas Quackin, Robert Shimmin; parents died 1727 (John) and 1729 (Elizabeth)
  4. Ann purchased Fildraw land from her father on two occasions: 1722 with her brother Thomas (Fildraw beg?), and in 1725 on her own behalf
  5. Ann married Thomas Cain in 1725
  6. Ann and her Cain family were farming Fildraw (beg?) in 1744 (Abbey lands rent book)
  7. Elinor, the daughter to whom she left most of her goods, died the following year unmarried
  8. There is much about the Malew Mylreas of the 1600s and early 1700s that does not hang together so extreme caution must be exercised
